Field Day and First Grade

This school year has flown by! I can't believe the boys just have a few days left. Next year S will be in first grade, which seems so old. O will be going to pre-k in the mornings. This past week S had a field day one morning, which was a lot of fun to watch. They had game stations set up that K and 1st rotated through. S had a blast!

In the afternoon we went to S's family picnic where he was given his Kindergarten Diploma and his portofolio, showing all his work thoughout the year. The progression is amazing! I can't believe all he has learned. Thanks Ms. J and Ms. S for all the work you put into the portfolios!

Baby Birdies

The babies are here! We had friends over the day the eggs hatched, so lots of kiddos were able to see the babies hatching. Usually when we check on them all you can see are wide open beaks waiting to be fed, but today they were pretty quiet. I think they're going to have to leave soon, though because they're barely fitting in that tiny nest.

The Bronx Zoo

A couple of weekends ago we spent the day at The Bronx Zoo. It is a huge zoo! We spent most of the day there and only saw about half of it. I think I had more fun than E and the boys. I love going to zoos! We saw lots of animals that I had never seen before. S was able to see a bat, which was what he requested and O was able to see some monkeys, his request. And the weather was perfect! Riding the bug carousel.

Can you tell who loves to have his picture taken...

And who hates it?

Mother's Day and Spring

I had a wonderful relaxing Mother's Day this year. It started out with a solo run, then we heard a super sermon at church, then lunch out. The rest of the day was spent outside, going to a park, and riding bikes. We ended the day at an ice cream shop. My kind of day!

Spring is in full bloom here and it's beautiful! Everything is green and flowering.

Some of the flowers in our front yard.

We have also been seeing lots of new life. Baby geese at a park and we found a tiny nest with four perfect eggs in it in a pot of geraniums in our back yard.

The Big 4

Once again, I'm way behind on the blog. And I feel especially guilty because Easter was also a sweet, little stinker's birthday and I'm just now blogging about it. We decided to celebrate O's birthday on Saturday, so that we could put more emphasis on why we celebrate Easter on Sunday. We had planned on having an egg hunt in our backyard for the kids helping us celebrate, but the weather was drizzly and rainy all day. Fortunately, E set up a great play area in the garage and we had the egg hunt and pinata in there. (On a side note, I'm not sure I've seen anything more disturbing than the kids trying to rip off the Elmo pinata's limbs when he fell on the ground.)

The Cake

O was laying under the table the whole time we were singing to him. Stinker!

Finally he popped up to blow out his candle.

Poor Elmo!
