Poor sickies

You know things are bad when both boys take a four-hour nap. Here they are upon waking, not too happy. I really hate it when they're sick, but I have to say that I love the extra cuddle time. Hopefully they're feel better tomorrow.

Fun Saturday

We had a fun, Christmas-spirit Saturday. In the morning the boys had their Sunday School party at church. We had a pancake breakfast, then the boys walked around to the craft stations and made Christmas crafts, and then they heard the Christmas story. Later that evening we went to a Christmas parade in our little downtown. It ended at our town square where they lit the big Christmas tree and Santa came to visit.

Thank You's

Thanks to my sweet E, who woke up at 5:30 and stood in line on Black Friday. He scored us a great deal on a new digital camera. He also bought a portable DVD player, which will be very nice during our 12+8 hour car trip over Christmas.

We also want to thank Grandma Sharol for the super hero capes she made for the boys. They've been running around having a great time.

And one more thing: Go Army, Beat Navy!

Thanksgiving

We hope everything had a nice Thanksgiving. It was just the four of us this year, but we still enjoyed ourselves. We were all pretty lazy. We did go for a walk and to the park, but the rest of the day we ate and watched football.

Eventually we had to take O's shirt off because he was getting so messy.

I think he's full!

November Happenings

So I haven't been posting much lately because our camera is being very tempermental and I know everyone would be disappointed if I just wrote and didn't put up pics of the boys. I have a few pictures to put up, although they're not the greatest quaility.
Yesterday was S's Thanksgiving Feast at school. He was an Indian in the program and then he, O and I ate lunch together. It was a lot of fun for all of us.

S at the Feast and with his teachers.

We also bought O a new bed because his old one was recalled. The boys have been enjoying the newness of it. This past weekend we all took a trip to Trader Joe's which I had never been to before. It's a pretty cool store. They even gave the boys balloons and stickers.

Lazy Saturday

We had great plans on Saturday to drive to a state park and have a picnic and small hike, but instead we had an extremely leisurely breakfast and then went for a short walk near our house. Sometimes it's nice to be lazy. (These are cell phone photos, so not that great.)

Halloween-Late

So, a week later I'm finally getting the Halloween pictures posted. S went as Batman and O was a fat, little monkey. These pictures were actually taken a couple of weeks before Halloween, thankfully. The night of Halloween we couldn't find the camera.

The Sunday before Halloween our Sunday School class had a pumpkin carving party. E did a great, intricate job carving a witch. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the finished pumpkin. It was very cool, though.

I can't believe it's already November! Only a few weeks until Thanksgiving and then a few more til Christmas! I love this time of year! I've been humming Christmas songs and planning, planning, planning!

One down, one to go.

The surgery went fine on Monday. I'm told I have a nice straight toe now, but I won't see it until next Tuesday when my doctor takes the bandages off. Right now my foot hurts and I'm kind of loopy from the pain medicine. I'm already very tired off lugging around the giant boot I have to wear. It makes chasing the boys soooo much more difficult! But at least I'm not on crutches.

surgery

Tomorrow morning I am having surgery on my left foot to correct my crooked toe. (Otherwise known as a bunion. Ugh! That's a terrible word.) I'll be on crutches for a couple of days and then I'll be wearing one of those giant boots for a few weeks, then on a to a smaller sandal.

On to nicer news. Yesterday we picked out our pumpkins at a little farm near our house. O fell in the mud about four times. So funny!

The boys wanted really bigs ones, but we talked them into smaller ones.

Disney World!

Sunday the boys and I returned from a trip to Disney World with one of my sisters and her family. We had a great time, except that E couldn't go and we really missed him.

Disney World was all decked out for Halloween.

Taking a break in Morroco.

Watching a parade with Auntie.

Picnic

The boys and I took a picnic lunch to a local park this morning. We had to wear pants and long sleeves because it's gotten so cool. Yay! We munched on PB and J's, baby carrots, and homemade chocolate chip cookies. Yum yum!

S finds something interesting... ...a tiny treefrog.

Ready for lunch.

A Getaway Weekend

This past weekend, E and I took a trip to West Point. That's right, I didn't mention the boys because they didn't go. A momentous event. It was the first time we've been away from them overnight. My Dad and his new wife, Marian, were able to come up and stay with them. We had a great time and so did the boys. It was wonderful to come home and see their sweet, smiling faces.

The General and I. (The General is the biggest mule I've ever seen.

At the game. (Unfortunately it did not end well.)

Books I love

I just wanted to share with everyone the book series I just started reading: The Mitford Series by Jan Karon. They're not new. I think the first one came out in the mid-nineties, but they are so good. I'm just starting the second one and I feel like I'm getting a breath of fresh air every time I open it up. They are so positive and funny and uplifting. If you have read them, you not what I'm talking about and if you haven't, then you should!

Art in the Park

On Labor Day we went to "Art in the Park" in a town nearby. They had lots of booths of interesting art, sculputure, etc. The boys found a small play are with a train that they could climb all over. They had a great time pretending to drive and sell train tickets.

School Days

S and E started both started school a couple of weeks ago. S is going three mornings a week to a preschool at our church. I think he really likes it, although I can't get him to tell me much about it. I can't believe he's in school. It seems like he grew up overnight.
Daddy and S, off to school.
